Design Approach
The home features an open-concept design, with the kitchen and dining areas seamlessly blending into a central courtyard that serves as the heart of the house. The courtyard, adorned with a staircase, acts as a connective space filled with abundant natural light, enhancing the home’s openness and vibrancy.
Circular columns were incorporated into the design to reflect a sense of flow and continuity between spaces. By eliminating sharp edges, these columns not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also contributed to the home’s welcoming and harmonious atmosphere.
Rat trap bond construction was utilized for the walls, significantly reducing the number of bricks required while enhancing thermal insulation. This technique ensures the home stays cooler in summer and warmer in winter, improving energy efficiency while staying true to the project’s sustainability goals.
Locally sourced materials were used extensively to reflect the essence of the region. Rubble masonry in the courtyard, roofing tiles, and mud pots used as filler slabs not only reduced the carbon footprint but also added a rustic charm. Skylights strategically placed across the house ensure excellent natural lighting, minimizing the need for artificial lighting during the day.
The exterior of the house combines traditional and modern elements, creating a harmonious façade that resonates with the family’s aesthetic preferences. The thoughtful blend of styles has made the home a standout project in the locality, drawing attention and admiration from neighbors and passersby.
